REQUIRED FIREARMS SAFETY TRAINING

The following training courses have been approved by the Board of Directors:

NRA Basic Firearms Safety Course, State Hunters Safety Program,  Concealed Weapon or Firearm Carry License, Lake County Technical Center Firearms Familiarization & Safety Course, NRA and /or NROI Range Officer Certification, NRA Certified Firearm Instructor, State of Florida Police Standards Certification, retired law enforcement, Active Military, or Honorable Military Discharge. You must have completed at least one of the above to be considered for membership.

Attach copy of one of the above.  COPY REQUIRED


Definition of Immediate Family:  Spouse and/or children under the age of 18 years living in the same household.


CLUB SAFETY AND GENERAL RULES

These range rules have been established to ensure the safety of those individuals who use this facility and the surrounding community at large.

These rules must be followed.  Any member found repeatedly violating them will be asked to relinquish their membership.

  • Firearms shall be UNLOADED and ENCASED when arriving at the range.
  • Concealed carry is PROHIBITED.
  • Membership cards must be worn at all times.
  • As soon as arriving at the range members will sign in and pay the appropriate guest fees, if you have guests.  Guests are also required to sign waiver form before using the range. Members are limited to 4 shooting guests. After a guest has used the range 4 or more times they are required to join. Members are responsible for their guests and shall make them aware of the range rules.
  • Our range runs on the HOT or COLD  principle. When the range is COLD, for ranges with Blue lights, the light will be on. All firearms shall be unloaded with their actions open and magazines removed. Firearms shall not be handled and all shooters will stand behind the red line, if the range is so equipped. On ranges not equipped with a Blue light the same range procedures will apply.
  • Encased firearms are allowed to be brought to the firing line during a HOT or COLD range.  When the range is called HOT, for ranges with the Blue lights, the light will be out. At this time shooters are allowed to handle firearms. When uncasing a firearm it must be done on the firing line, not behind the red line.
  • Before calling a range HOT or COLD make sure all of the shooters are aware of your intentions . The person calling for a HOT or COLD range assumes the responsibility of checking all firearms before continuing.Eye and ear protection is mandatory and shall be worn at all times.
  • Alcohol and Drugs are strictly PROHIBITED.
  • Whenever moving a firearm to another position on the range it must be UNLOADED with the action open and the muzzle pointed up.
  • Make sure all rounds impact the berm and do not ricochet off the ground.
  • Toy guns are not allowed.
  • Police up your area and pick up brass or litter before leaving. Remove targets from backers.
  • Sign out before leaving.

RANGE RULES

The following is a list of approved targets and a list of ranges on which they can be used.

Ranges 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5 -  25 Yard Multiuse ranges

  • Paper targets attached to approved frames. Steel targets when shot with lead bullets.
  • The Range Officer has the final approval as to the type of steel target used.
  • No High Power bottle-neck rifle caliber.
  • .22 LR caliber guns may be used on steel targets.
  • Shotgun clay targets may also be placed on the impact berm and shot.
  • Shotguns may be used only on Range 1 or 2. Slugs are not allowed.
  • Holsters may be used on these ranges for practice in drawing from the holster.
  • When the range is COLD firearms may be kept in the holster but all firearms will be UNLOADED.
  • Holsters may not be used on any other range with the exception of scheduled matches.

Range 7  - 50 Yard Multiuse range

  • Handguns ONLY with the exception of .22 LR caliber rifles and Black Powder rifles.
  • Paper targets placed on target boards provided by the club. Any club approved cartridge may be used.
  • .22 LR type swingers. .22 LR only, placed at 50Yards only.

Range 8 - 100 Yard Rifle range

  • No handguns with the exception of scoped hunting handguns. Also XP-100 or contender type handguns.
  • All uncased firearms must be kept on the shooting benches. Uncased firearms will not be allowed behind the Red line.
  • Paper targets placed on target boards provided by the club. Any club approved cartridge may be used.
  • Steel plate provided by the club can be shot with by any approved cartridge.
  • Anyone wanting to sight in a shotgun with turkey loads may do so on this range but the shooter must provide their own target backer.
  • .22 LR swinger type targets. .22 LR Only. Placed at 25, 50, 75 or 100 Yards.
  • Shotguns may also be used but only using slugs, no shot of any size is allowed.
  • Special rules for muzzle loading rifles: All powder will remain on the benches behind the firing line. Rifles will be charged behind the line using the rifle holders provided by the club. Rifles will be carried to the firing line with the muzzle facing up. At this time firearms may be primed. Primers will be kept on the firing line.

Range 9 - 200 Yard Rifle Range

  • The gate on the access road shall remain closed while the range is HOT. When the range is called COLD the gate may be opened and members may use the access road to drive down and post targets. The blue light on the gate will be on to indicate a COLD range.
  • Authorized targets:
    • Paper targets placed on target boards provided by the club.
    • Steel targets for BPCR only.
    • Rifle must be sighted in before using this range.
    • If a steel target is provided by the club it may be shot with any approved caliber. You may not bring your own steel and place down range. The only exception is BPCR shooting lead bullets.

Range 6 - Cowboy Town.

  • Closed for casual shooting. Match shooting only.

Shotgun Field: Ranges 10,11, & 12

  • No rifle or handgun shooting allowed.
  • Shotgun only. Restricted to 12 Ga 7 ½ shot or lighter
  • Casual shotgun shooting will be allowed only in front of the Skeet high house. Targets must be thrown straight away. Shooters must use the throwers provided by the club.
  • The Match Director at a sanctioned match has the authorization to use targets that are not normally used on certain ranges.  Match rules will be in effect.

NO CANS OR BOTTLES ALLOWED ON ANY RANGES.

USE OF UNAPPROVED TARGETS MAY RESULT IN LOSS OF RANGE PRIVILIGES AND LOSS OF MEMBERSHIP.
